lub Plein Air BdS is a cultural and recreational non-profit organization that brings together camper and caravan drivers and lovers of Banco di Sicilia open-air tourism, even as their friends.

The club has been established in 1992. It has among it’s objectives:

• to organize trips, tours and other cultural initiatives for its members, with a particular interest in intercultural meetings and with the largest environmental respect;
• to manage relations with similar national and European associations;
• to promote, in agreement with local authorities and local tourism offices, open-air tourism and environment-compatible tourism on the island.

Club Plein Air BdS joined, as the only one among all Italian camper associations, in 2003 the AITR -- Italian Association of Responsible Tourism, which brings together - besides Legambiente, WWF, CTS, etc.., all associations that promote ethical tourism, supportive and respectful to the environment and every culture and society.

As explained in the preceding paragraphs, the motto of the association is: TOGETHER FOR FRIENDSHIP, CITIZENS OF THE WORLD, AMBASSADORS OF PEACE. The meaning of these words is closely connected to the philosophy of the club, whose objective is not the "recruitment” of members, but the union of people, through the common goal of “plein air”. Members know themselves and each other primarily as sincere friends of the association, who create the base for a friendly dialogue with other campers and with all people (of any race, culture and religion) with whom they get in touch.

Members of the Club Plein Air BdS are really citizens of the world in their journeys that already brought them to all countries reachable by land or sea with their means of transport, from North Cape to the Sahara, from the Black Sea to the Baltic, as well as the United States and Australia. Because of their will to dialogue and reach mutual understanding with the people they meet, members of the Club like to define themselves as ambassadors of peace.

By one of the projects in colloboration with the local authorities, the association has pulled off that well equipped parking areas have been constructed in several municipalities on the island. The project “Municipalities of plein air on Sicily” (according to the regional section dell’ANCI) contains the Bill which has been presented to and approved by the alderman of Tourism of the Region Sicily in 2002, to promote the ecological development of tourism, touristic centres, as well as non mass touristic areas.

Club Plein Air BdS also has got an interesting editorial writing level as a bimonthly newspaper for its members ( "IL CLUB"). It manages a rich web site with sections about the plein-air philosophy, about Sicily, about the projects of the association as well as it’s membership.

Club Plein Air BdS, which has members throughout Italy, has its headquarters at the “Circolo del Banco di Sicilia”.
